The Computing Laboratory serves as a central facility for teaching and learning within the Department. It supports core curriculum courses through the provision of specialized software, including RStudio, Google Earth Pro, OpenGrADS, MATLAB, and ArcGIS Pro, enabling students to gain practical experience in data analysis, geospatial technologies, and scientific computing.

Beyond its role in the core curriculum, the laboratory also accommodates general education classes and science outreach workshops, thereby promoting broader community engagement. Beginning in September 2025, the laboratory will undergo a computer upgrade. The inclusion of GPU capabilities is anticipated to enhance computational performance, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, machine learning, and deep learning applications.
