Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) system is an advanced geophysical sensor system based on optoelectronic technology that converts standard telecommunication fiber-optic cables into a high-resolutionseismic sensing array. It is the state-of-the-arts monitoring system in Earth Sciences, utilizing the optical fibre’s properties. The most direct applications include better monitoring of natural hazards, such as earthquakes, landslides, typhoon, flood, and so on. Furthermore, the data can be also used to develop smart city by offering alternative approaches to monitor and manage urban traffic, underground space utilization, planning communication systems, and so on.

The mobile handheld laser scanner enabled efficient, high-resolution 3D mapping of diverse environments – from delicate ecological formations to slope failures – while maintaining exceptional accuracy. This advanced technology overcomes the limitations of conventional surveying approaches by offering unparalleled mobility for real-time data collection in challenging field conditions where traditional tripodmounted systems or aerial platforms prove inadequate. Its integrated simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology ensures reliable performance in areas with limited satellite visibility, such as dense vegetation, subterranean locations, or built-up urban areas, making it an essential tool for comprehensive geological, geophsical, environmental and urban studies.
